I took up this challenge a few years ago and it still influences how I think today - at the time it took me months to go 21 days complaint free. Even now the experience helps remind me how important positive speech is for myself and those around me.
In 2006 Reverand Will Bowen started the 21 Day Complaint Free Challenge with 250 of his congregation at a small church in Kansas City. The idea was to go 21 consecutive days without complaining. He gave each of his congregation a purple bracelet to wear as a mindfulness tool. His idea was to switch the bracelet from wrist-to-wrist with each spoken complaint and keep switching until you go 21 consecutive days without complaining. Today this has become a worldwide movement - the Complaint Free bracelet total is now over 14 million and climbing. Oprah and The Wall Street Journal have both recommended this challenge, amongst many others.
You can check out the Complaint Free website and give it a go;

I have just realised today that I need to take this challenge again - I caught myself complaining too many times over the last few days ............
